Barnwell is a delightful picturesque village, it is considered one of the prettiest villages in the region. A brook bordered by green verges, tall trees, mature limes and dipping willows, runs through the centre of Barnwell.

The oldest cottages were built of local stone, and many still have thatch or Collyweston roofs.

Across the ancient stone bridge is The Montagu Arms, a well known and popular public house. Also within the village is a village hall with many community activities and a well-stocked village shop / post office.

The manor house at the north end of the village used to be the country home of the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

The historic town of Oundle lies about 2 miles away and boasts a number of family run businesses, shops and restaurants set around the traditional market place. There is a good range of leisure facilities within the town including a theatre, art galleries, sports clubs and public houses.

There is also an excellent choice of schooling. More extensive facilities, including mainline rail travel (King's Cross 50 mins) are available in Peterborough, about 13 miles away.

Barnwell is in the primary school catchment for Oundle C E Primary and the catchment for the Middle School and Prince William School in Oundle.
