The picturesque village, which contains a number of 17th century timber-framed cottages, lies on the intersection of the roads from Leighton Bromswold to the Giddings, and from Upton and Alconbury Weston to Winwick. The church is on the south side of the village, and to the south of it is Rectory House which adjoins the remains of a homestead moat marking the site of the capital messuage of the Beauchamps, mentioned in 1274 and 1324. Close to the village is Hamerton Zoological Park. Opened as a conservation sanctuary in 1990, and set in a lovely, open rolling area of countryside known as the "Huntingdonshire Wolds", Hamerton's 15 acres of parkland provide a safe home for a fascinating array of beautiful creatures from around the world. The park specialises in rare, endangered and unusual animals, with over a hundred different species. Hamerton is just 20 minutes from Oundle, Peterborough and Huntingdon.
