Ashton is a small and picturesque village which was built in 1900 by Lord Rothschild, to house the workers on the estate. Ashton is full of Tudor style stone and thatched cottages and well tended gardens. In the centre is a village green, which every autumn becomes the focus of attention, as visitors from all over the world participate in or spectate at the World Conker Championships to try their luck at becoming King and Queen Conker. The Chequered Skipper, is a lovely thatched pub next to the village green. Good quality food is served here every lunch and evening of the year. Ashton is in the primary school catchment for Oundle C E Primary and the catchment for the Middle School and Prince William School in Oundle.
