Thurning is a small village of attractive houses with a beautiful 13th century church. Within the locality there are a number of byways, footpaths and bridleways criss-crossing this excellent riding country. The nearby village of Barnwell offers a popular public house and a village shop / post office. The historic market town of Oundle, sitting within the bends of the River Nene, lies about 5 ½ miles to the South East and is renowned for is Georgian streetscapes and the Public School dating from the 16th Century. The traditional market place is surrounded by a good range of high quality family run shops, businesses, restaurants and a supermarket. Huntingdon and Peterborough are the major towns in the region and offer extensive shopping and leisure facilities as well as a 50 minute train service to London King’s Cross. Thurning is in the primary school catchment for Oundle C E Primary and the catchment for the Middle School and Prince William School in Oundle.
