The church at Stoke Doyle is dedicated to St. Rumbold. He was the son of a Northumbrian king, and was born in Kings Sutton, in the south of Northamptonshire. When he was three days old, he is said to have preached a sermon in Brackley! He was so exhausted by this incredible act that he died soon after. 17th century stone built Shuckburgh Arms with Chesterfield sofas and an inglenook fireplace. Good home-cooked food and cask ales are served and can be followed by a game of traditional Northamptonshire skittles or table skittles. Stoke Doyle is amazingly twinned with Barcelona! Stoke Doyle is in the primary school catchment for Oundle C E Primary and the catchment for the Middle School and Prince William School in Oundle.
