Laxton is located approximately one mile west of the A43 and seven miles east of Corby. Laxton Hall, which is situated to the north-east of the village, was constructed in the latter part of the 18th century. It underwent much alteration and modification in the 19th century. In the early part of the 19th century, J A Repton (the son of Humphry Repton) carried out the alterations on behalf of George Freke Evans. It was altered again in 1867-8 after the seventh Lord Carbery had succeeded in 1845. The village itself was rebuilt by George Freke Evans, as 'an essay in the picturesque', to form a model village consisting of gabled stone cottages and a village green. The church was also rebuilt in 1867, retaining the medieval tower. Laxton is in the primary school catchment for King's Cliffe Endowed Primary and the catchment for the Middle School in King's Cliffe and Prince William School in Oundle.
